This architecture walking tour includes thirteen buildings that showcase the character of the town of Wilkesboro and its historic downtown area as it has developed. All buildings that are included are wonderful examples of the distinctive styling and culture of their times and each one is included in the National Register of Historic Places. Each represents an aspect of community life that is historically noteworthy.

Black Cat Station is a project of the Yadkin Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. Black Cat Station Railroad is a large "HO Scale" model train layout. There are passenger trains and freight trains, a logging railroad and operating trolley car. There are 21 tunnels, 14 trains, 8 trestles & bridges and one trolley on the layout. The main layout is 50 feet by 20 feet, with 2 small layouts with Thomas the Train that children can operate by themselves. We have free magazines and many historical photos. We have a small gift shop also and free coffee. There is no admission charge to visit the railroad, but we gladly accept donations. Open on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
